About Me

Kamala Paula Kyle

When I, Paula Kyle, took my first yoga class in downtown D.C. at the YWCA over 30 years ago, it was a life altering experience. I knew immediately I was dealing with a powerful tool for transformation and I wanted to learn as much about this ancient art/science as possible.

I was in art school at the time and already discovering new and creative ways to see the world. However, I found that whenever I took a yoga class, I would walk away euphoric and this feeling would stay with me for 2-3 days afterward. I later came to find out that this was due to the flow of prana (life force) brought about and inherent in the practice of yoga.

The power of this experience put me in touch with something so innately fulfilling, I decided to commit my life to the deepening of this truth. As a result, I started studying eastern philosophies, western spirituality and taking yoga classes from world renown yoga teachers. These endeavors also included studying meditation with spiritual teachers from the West, India and Tibet.

Yoga gave me the confidence to pursue dreams/goals that I had heretofore been afraid to seek. For instance, yoga gave me the courage to take up dance at the age of 21. I found that I had a natural ability. I ended up pursuing this art form for 17 years and danced with several small companies.

Triyoga for me is the perfect yoga. I love the elegance of the flows and the detail in the transitions. It reminds me of the grace and happiness I acquired from dancing. More importantly, the transfomative power inherent in the sequencing of the postures brings about not only emotional balance and mental clarity, but a profound inner calm as well.

The number one aspect that draws me to Triyoga is the fact that it emerged from Kali Ray’s direct experience of Kriyavati – spontaneous yoga postures resulting from a state of deep meditation and inner bliss. What a rare and wonderful blessing this is for me because not only can I learn directly from “the master”, but more importantly I can share this gift with all my students.
